Our Story
Founded by working musicians who believed quality instruction shouldn't be exclusive, Confr Branc has grown from a single teaching room to one of the most respected music schools in the region.
How We Began
In 2009, our founder Margaret Chen returned from a decade performing professionally across Europe. She'd noticed something troubling: talented young musicians giving up because their early instruction had been rigid, joyless, or simply unaffordable.
She started teaching from her living room with a modest upright piano and a clear philosophy—music education should inspire, not intimidate. Word spread. Within two years, she'd brought on three fellow musicians and moved into proper premises.
Today we occupy a purpose-built facility with twelve teaching studios, a performance hall, and a team of instructors who share Margaret's original vision.

What Guides Us
Principles that shape every lesson we teach
Individual Attention
No two musicians are alike. We tailor every lesson to the student's learning style, pace, and musical interests rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Practical Skills First
We believe in getting students playing real music from day one. Theory supports practice, not the other way around.
Performance Opportunities
Playing for others builds confidence and musicianship. We host regular concerts, open mic nights, and ensemble performances throughout the year.
Supportive Community
Our students often become lifelong friends through workshops, group lessons, and social events. Music is better when shared.
Our Teaching Team
Every instructor holds professional performance credentials and undergoes ongoing pedagogical training
Conservatory Trained
All instructors hold degrees from recognised music institutions including the Royal Academy, Guildhall, and Trinity Laban.
Active Performers
Our teachers maintain active performance careers, bringing current industry experience into lessons.
DBS Checked
Every staff member undergoes enhanced background checks and safeguarding training.
Our Facilities
Twelve soundproofed teaching studios
80-seat performance hall with stage lighting
Steinway grand piano in main studio
Instruments available for in-lesson use
Comfortable waiting area for parents
Accessible building with lift access
Industry Partnerships
We maintain relationships with local schools, community centres, and music retailers. Students benefit from discounted instrument purchases through our retail partners, and we provide outreach workshops to schools that lack dedicated music programmes.
